CHRISTMAS LIES: Santa vs. Jesus

Most of us grew up believing that there was this guy named santa who comes down the chimney once a year to leave us all presents. BUT only if you are good. Bad kids get coal and Santa keeps a list and knows who has been naughty or nice. I myself was never told this lie. I was told another lie about another Christmas myth...

The story of a magic man who lived over 2000 years ago. He did amazing things like walk on water and rise from the dead. Turns out he was the son of God. This magic man was crucified by the Romans and supposedly died for my sins. Then rose from the dead.

Fantasy is fantasy and lies are lies.It could be telling kids that a man in a big red suit will travel all over the world and deliver billions of presents in one night or telling people that a 2000 year old magic man died for my sins and when I die will decide if I was naughty or nice and if I will spend eternity in torture or peace.

An open Atheist for congress???

As a lifelong Atheist since age 13 it is nice to see an Atheist running for congress. In 2006 I made a run for state house but never made my religious views public. Some claim that at least 24 members of congress have privately admitted to being an atheist.  My only issue is that he is a democrat and I myself am a Libertarian/Republican. Nice to see anyway.

(CNN) -- This fall, for the first time in U.S. history, an openly atheist candidate is running for Congress. James Woods is fighting an uphill battle as a Democrat seeking to represent the very Republican 5th Congressional District in Arizona.
There are now no openly atheist members of Congress, even though nearly 20% of Americans report having no religious affiliation, according to the Pew Research Center, and between 5% and 10% of Americans do not believe in a supreme being.
So far, only one sitting congressman, Pete Stark of California, has ever admitted to being an atheist while in office. First elected in 1972, Stark came out of the atheist closet back in 2007, but he losthis re-election bid in 2012 after serving in the U.S. House for 40 years.

How evolution works

I just read this great blog post about how complicated evolution is. I am including an excerpt and you can read the whole post by clicking the link.

" Evolution isn't linear. There are always many species in the mix, and they are co-evolving, competing, innovating, reproducing, dying, sometimes even going extinct. You have variations within species. There is simultaneous divergence and convergence. There are contrary winds. There are genetic drifts and back-currents. There is hybridization. There are invasive species and a changing competitive landscape. "

Figments of your imagination!

These four pictures are all mythical creatures that only live in the imagination of humans. The only problem is that not many people actually believe that mermaids, fairys and centaurs exist. I you truly believed in these creatures people would think you are crazy. So how come there are millions and maybe billions that believe there was a supernatural son of god who walked the earth. The stories of Jesus were not even written down until hundreds of years after he supposedly died. As me me I believed the man never existed.

btw I don't believe in mermaids either.

Darwins Galapagos to be featured on Google street view

Google will be launching a street view of the Galapagos islands. For the first time those of us without the means to travel there will be able to get a first hand view of the basis for the Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. I don't know about you but I can't wait to see it in action!

Don't feed the Church!

The fact is all churches run on donations from individuals. The solution to killing these churches is to cut off the money. Easy enough, right?

The real problem I see is religious charities. Most of these organizations do some good around the world, but the problem is that they use this as an excuse to try to convert ignorant populations. So in the future when you see an ad for something like the Christian children's fund go online and find a reputable secular organization that does something similar. Then at least all the money will go to feeding and educating children and not to converting and preaching to them.
